Texas Longhorn WIP

23 May

Since I got my Bethlehem drawing finished up and delivered, I now am able to move on to draw something for myself. Lately, I’ve been crazy about drawing in ink. Graphite always used to be my passion, but lately it seems distant.  I love the power of ink, and it’s so much easier to get nice, deep darks.  Sorry, dear graphite, but for now, you’ve been put aside. 😉

This big longhorn fellow will be an addition to my ink series, which includes my Draft Horses and my Appaloosa.

Here is the basic preliminary sketch done in graphite, though I may tweak a few little things here and there before I start to apply any ink.

This is 11×14 inches, drawn on Strathmore 400 series Bristol Smooth paper. It only looks murky and gray because I darkened it in PhotoShop so the very light drawing can actually be seen.

Thank you very much for looking and feel free to leave a comment.

I love your ink pictures! And there´ll be another one! Ah, it is so much fun to see the first sketch become a finished picture. Can´t wait!
