Christmas Drawing and Card from 2003

23 Dec

One year, I did a drawing of a snowman just for kicks, and in the end, I decided to make cards to send to family and friends with it.  Little did I know that it would be the beginning of a very involved and happy tradition of drawing a Christmas scene every year and making cards to send out.  This has been going on for the better part of a decade now, and I will show each drawing and then the card that was made to send out.  My mom and I have this tradition, and after spending hours hanging out in scrapbooking stores, looking at paper, ribbon, jute, and other ornaments that speak to us, she is the one who puts together these cards.  It’s a great tradition, and we both get pretty excited over it.

So, to start things off, I will be posting my first drawing and card from nearly nine years ago.  I hope you will like it.  It’s a little bit early, but Merry Christmas! 🙂

Snowman

-5×7 inches in size.

-Done in graphite.

This is wonderful, Jenna! He looks so happy and so cute, and of course, your wonderful style. And what a wonderful tradition — receiving art work at Christmas! A merry Christmas to you and the best of days for the new year! 🙂

Thank you, Katie! This drawing is pretty old, and back then, I didn’t “push the darks” in a drawling as much as I should have, but this fellow was fun to draw, anway. 🙂 It is always a joy to send out these cards for friends and family; most people have said that they never throw them out. It is very encouraging to hear that my artwork is appreciated.

Merry Christmas to you, too! I hope it’s wonderful and filled with good memories. 🙂

What a lovely card! Both the drawing and your Mom´s touch to it. It´s a wonderful tradition to have.

Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🙂

Thank you, Jana! I’m so happy you like it. Yes, Mom is very creative, and she really has an eye for color, so we make a great team when it comes to card making. 🙂

Merry Christmas to you and yours, too. Have a great, beautiful Christmas. 🙂
