Irvine Park

12 Jul

Over the 4th of July, my family and I went to a really nice wildlife park called Irvine Park.  I hadn’t been there since I was pretty little, and was it ever a nice place!  We saw many animals, including their newest addition, hyenas.  That was a treat; I don’t think I’ve ever seen hyenas in real life before.

…Granted, they spent the whole time I was there napping, but they were fun to see anyway.  The tigers were also great fun to see because…well, do I need a “because”?  Tigers are amazing!

Anyway, there were many animals, ducks, geese, guineas, monkeys (sadly, they were through two layers of chain link fence so I did not get good photos of them), peacocks, bison (including a beautiful white bison), bears, and more.  So check out the photos.  Be sure to look at the bear, who was lounging in a hammock like a sunbather. 🙂  I hope you enjoy the pictures.  Thanks for looking!

It’s so funny to see the bear in the hammock ! I guess they’re just like us, they love their comfort !
I love to go to parks like these, even though I haven’t been in a very long time. The geese are beautiful, the one with the black bump is so strange ! The peacocks are so beautiful, and Oh my…. the tigers are amazing, sooo beautiful ! I love how you captured them, especially the one lying on his back. We don’t have the chance to see these animals very often, it was fun to see your photos. Each Spring I have a mallard couple who lives around my home, there’s a stream near my home, and they stay for about 2 ½ months. This year they decided that my pool was their pond. They would swim in and relax on the edge of the pool ! They would come 3 to 4 times a day, it was so funny to see them ! Here’s a photo : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=656963007652434&set=pb.100000162231670.-2207520000.1374678924.&type=3&theater
Have a nice day Jenna !

Hi Jocelyne. It’s great to see your comment. Thanks so much! Isn’t that bear funny? He was so happy out there, toasty warm in the sun. I, too, love wildlife parks such as these. I find myself acting like a little kid, zipping from animal to animal, ooing and ahing and snapping pictures like mad. lol It’s always fun! The birds were lovely and such fun to photograph. That goose with the big black beak/bump was very regal acting. There were a couple like this one with the bump and the strange wattle underneath. They looked old and wise that way. I don’t know what kind of goose they were… Aren’t the tigers stunning? I am always amazed by their size, because they are just huge! It was such a treat to see both of the tigers wake up and turn to look at us. I enjoyed it so much!

Those two mallards made me laugh! Do you mind sharing your pool with them? They look very happy to have found such a nice, clean pond to swim in. 😉 Thanks for sharing the picture. You have a beautiful pool, by the way! Thanks again, and have a nice day yourself. 🙂

I didn’t mind sharing the pool with them because at that time I didn’t started bathing yet. But there was a lot of feathers on the surface of the water and poop on the edge of the pool ! They’re gone now and will return this Fall when the pool is closed. 🙂

Haha, ah, feathers and droppings, how lovely. 😉 You’re very kind to them, Jocelyne. It sounds like they’ve found a nice place to come hang out in spring and fall.
