Shelby the Blue Heeler Commission WIP 4

21 Jan

Shelby is now starting to look more like a dog as her snout comes into focus,  I’ve drawn her mouth and have a start on the tongue.  I have never drawn a panting dog in pen and ink, so this has been a good challenge.  I’ve also had to practice my negative drawing skills by drawing around the white whiskers that hang down over her mouth.  She’s taking shape. 🙂

Thanks for looking!

Is that done entirely in stipple??! It looks like thousands if not millions of black pepper grains. I am glad it’s your work in progress. I was about to say where’s the nose. 😛

      Hi writingbolt.

This is done primarily with stipple, yes, with the exception of some lines for texture in the fur. There are quite a few dots, alright! It goes pretty quickly though…I enjoy it. Haha, yes, the nose is yet to come. 😉 Thanks for the comment.

Well, that is amazing, both the stippling and that it went quick for you. My hand would probably tire and get bored. I stippled a poster for Linkin Park. I took breaks between portions and still nearly threw a fit.

Thank you! I do have to take breaks now and then, but my hand is pretty used to this technique, so the muscles required are limbered up. 😉

You did? Do you have it posted anywhere? I love seeing stippled art by others!
